A Distinguished Career of Service to the Naturist Community
After 44 incredible years at Cypress Cove Nudist Resort and 34 impactful years at the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), Carolyn Hawkins is finally hanging up her...well, whatever it is you hang up after that long in naturism!
From cooking up a storm part-time in the food and beverage department, to scrubbing (and possibly judging) your hotel rooms in housekeeping, to making sure you had the best time at our activities—Carolyn has done it all at Cypress Cove. Over at AANR, she answered phones as a receptionist, managed PR like a pro, liaised with clubs, and even assisted in legal affairs, all while championing family-friendly naturism across countless newspapers, magazines, and video editorials. If you needed someone to explain why skinny-dipping isn’t a crime, Carolyn was your gal!
This summer, Carolyn was honored with the coveted AANR Hall of Fame Award, the Academy Award for Naturism, for her tireless work defending against unfair demonization. She's educated officials nationwide and stood tall for the cause—no tan lines, no regrets.
We want to give her the send-off she deserves! Join us on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 PM at Lakeside Restaurant (reservations recommended) to celebrate a lifetime of advocacy, friendship, and putting clothes on ONLY when absolutely necessary. We’ll be raising a toast (and probably a few eyebrows) in honor of her many achievements. Please send your favorite Carolyn Hawkins photos to newsletter@cypresscoveresort.com before Wednesday, October 30th to be included in a special Cove Family slide show.
Now on a serious note (just for a second, promise!): Many have been asking how to help Cypress Cove in post-hurricane recovery. Well, here’s a better idea. A GoFundMe page has been set up for Carolyn’s retirement! So, we’re asking you to send her off with a retirement gift worthy of her many years of selfless contribution. 100% of funds will go directly to Carolyn’s well-deserved relaxation fund—because, after 44 years of dedication, she’s earned it!
Let’s make sure Carolyn retires in style... or at least with a well-padded beach chair! See you there!

Haunted Illuminations Spectacle Hayride

Climb aboard the hayride tractor and enjoy a scenic ride through the resort, admiring all the festive Halloween decorations. But beware, there might be a few surprises lurking in the dark! This event is perfect for all ages and guaranteed to get you in the Halloween spirit. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Halloween Lights Display Contest
Participate in the Halloween Lights Display Contest during the Haunted Illuminations Spectacle Hayride. Cast your votes for the best house decorations that stand a chance to win the coveted "Boos Basket," filled with spirits valued at $350. Remember to bring your phone to cast your vote!

Kids Trick-or-Treating
Calling all little ghosts and goblins! Join us for Trick-or-Treating on Saturday, October 26, from 5 PM to 7 PM. This fun-filled event is perfect for kids of all ages to show off their costumes and collect sweet treats. Naked Nightmares Pool Party
Get ready for a Halloween night like no other at the Naked Nightmares Pool Party on Saturday, October 26, from 8 PM to midnight! Dive into a hauntingly good time with music that immerses you in the eerie spirit of Halloween. The night will feature a genre-blending mix that will keep you dancing, while fog effects, laser lights, and captivating music videos set the mood for a spooky celebration. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind Halloween event! Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and get ready to make a splash at Naked Nightmares 2024!
Nude-A-Palooza Recap
We are excited to share the incredible success of this year’s Nude-A-Palooza at Cypress Cove! Thanks to the generosity of our amazing members and guests, we donated nearly $14,000 to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness.
This annual event is not only a day of fun with live music, great food, and raffle giveaways but also an opportunity to give back to a cause close to our hearts. Thank you to everyone who contributed! We can’t wait to see you at next year’s Nude-A-Palooza as we continue making a difference together!
12th Annual Cove Turkey Smash Pickleball Tournament
Get ready for three days of pickleball excitement at the 12th Annual Cove Turkey Smash Pickleball Tournament, happening November 8-10, 2024!
The fun kicks off on Friday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m. with a casual 90-minute pickleball event, perfect for warming up and meeting fellow players. No partner is needed—everyone is welcome to join! Stick around for the courtside Happy Hour starting at 3:00 p.m.
On Saturday, the competition heats up with Men’s and Ladies’ Doubles tournaments. Teams can compete at the “A,” “B,” and “Open” skill levels. Sunday wraps up the weekend with Mixed Doubles matches at the same skill levels, followed by the tournament raffle at noon.
There’s no pre-registration—just arrive on time with your partner and get ready to play! Registration is free for Cove Pickleball Club members, and non-members can easily join at CovePickleballClub.com.

Lake Brown Chili Cook-Off
Join us on Saturday, November 16, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cornhole Court for the Lake Brown Chili Cook-Off, an exciting event to benefit the fish of Lake Brown. Bring your own beverage and come hungry as we showcase the best chili recipes from the community. Sample entries for just $1 each, or enjoy a full bowl for $5 after 1 PM. Desserts will also be available for $2. All votes must be cast by 1 PM, and the winner, who will take home a $100 prize, will be announced at 1:30 PM.
If you'd like to compete, the entry fee is $10, and you must sign up by Friday, November 15. To enter, contact Mike at 812-291-0006 via text or call, or visit him at 545 Red Fox Run. Additionally, dessert donations are welcome—please reach out to Susan at 812-291-0007 if you'd like to contribute. Come support the cause, vote for your favorite chili, and help us keep the fish of Lake Brown well-fed!
Driver Safety Course
Join us for the AARP Driver Safety class on Saturday, November 23rd, from 9 AM to 4 PM in the Clubhouse. This course is perfect for brushing up on your driving skills, learning crash-avoidance techniques, and even qualifying for a discount on your auto insurance!
How to Register:

- Attendance is limited to 20 participants, so reserve your spot early!
What to Bring:
- A check (no cash) made payable to AARP: $20 for AARP members (with membership card) or $25 for non-members.

Nude-A-Palooza, our Tribute Band Music Festival was a huge success again this year.
This year's Nude-A-Palooza supported the Florida Cancer Specialist Foundation.
There were amazing raffle prizes again this year.
ANNR had an information booth with lots of free giveaways.
The flags said it all.
The fun started with a great Dean Martin tribute.
The Linkin Park tribute rocked the stage and got the dancing started.
It wouldn't be Nude-A-Palooza without Hippy and his bubble-machine.
The Heart tribute band looked and sounded just like this great 70's American rock band.
The cooler weather and great bands brought out a big crowd for the event.
The Stone Temple Pilots tribute band brought the music of the 90's to the stage.
Dolly had the crowd dancing with her hits.
The One Hitters brought together all your one-hit wonders to one stage.
