Laugh of the Week

Cove News

A Cove Update from Owner, Ted Hadley

Unfortunately, this latest COVID surge has delayed our efforts to begin reintroducing indoor activities. Very frustrating. They are predicting that it may peak within a few weeks. With it so prevalent right now, we may get a break once this surge wanes. Fingers crossed.

Our new Head of Engineering, Jason Koczenasz, has begun. He's a nudist and a super nice guy with lots of experience. Please feel free to introduce yourself when you get a chance.

We've installed 4 new pool lifts. They look much nicer than the old ones and function better as well. They got a good review from their first user. We're also planning to install automatic door openers at Cheeks and the Office to improve ADA access.

Tiki is working hard on the nude cruise right now. It's extra complicated because of the COVID surge. A lot of people are selling their rooms and changing their plans. The cruise line requires a negative COVID test within 48 hours before boarding so Peter has arranged for a company to test on-site the Friday & Saturday before the cruise. Unfortunately, it's a paid test and they do not accept insurance. At least it's convenient!

Peter is working on setting up a quick check-in process for repeat campers. They will be able to sign in at the gate and proceed directly to their campsite. Some of you expressed concern about campers blocking the road while checking in. This should reduce that issue significantly.

We are going to have to seal the streets again this year. We're looking into a new product that's a bit thicker. Peter is getting quoted now. For the longest-lasting seal, it needs to be done in the hottest months, Summer or early Fall. Unfortunately, those are also the rainiest months. If you've been through it before, you know what a pain it is, but it's necessary.

Peter has ordered brand new dart machines and a new pool table for Cheeks. The new dart machines and pool table will be free to use. Enjoy!

You will see a lot more of the red "Coke" towels around the pool soon. We're going to be providing them in the hotel rooms. It should be a nice convenience for our guests.

The big construction projects are still at the architect's. I will let you know when we have an update on those.

Ted Hadley,
Owner

A Bathrobe Party!

It's getting quite cold down here! We've noticed our Canadian friends are even bundling up in Florida. This weather is making it hard to get out of our bathrobes, so we've decided not to! Everyone is invited to join A Taste of Love on Saturday, February 5 at 7 pm poolside as they play your favorite tunes. There will be a contest for the "best bathrobe," so get creative if you want to participate. Judging will happen at 9 pm. Like always here at Cypress Cove, no fancy attire is required. Throw on your comfiest bathrobe, towel, or sweatpants, and meet us at the West Pool. Looking to purchases one? Visit the Fig Leaf Boutique for a special Cypress Cove robe.

New Dart Boards

Are you visiting Cypress Cove soon? Come out to Cheeks and play a round of darts on our BRAND NEW dartboards. These are free-play, top-of-the-line dart boards by Spider 360. Grab a drink and meet some new friends.

Updates Happening Around the Cove

It's cold a rainy here in Florida this week, but we're still hard at work making this the best au natural vacation spot on the east coast. Check out the current projects happening now at the Cove.

Villa buildings four and five are getting new roofs. The other buildings were completed in late 2021.

We've had another delivery of brand new pool chairs. There should be no shortage of places to sit at these amazing pools!

New siding going up on the outside of the main office. This will be part of our updated theme around the resort. We can't wait to show you the final result.

AANR 2022 Mid-Winter Meeting

Cypress Cove Nudist Resort is honored to have been chosen to host The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) 2022 midwinter meeting of the AANR leadership!

There will be an open house at the AANR office located at 1703 N Main Street, Kissimmee, FL from 9 am - 12:00 on Friday, February 4 where you can meet the staff. After the open house, follow them back to Cypress Cove for a brief opening session beginning at 1:30 pm. On Saturday, February 5 at 9 am the meeting reconvenes at the Cove. The meeting is a great opportunity to learn about the exciting things the association is doing in membership, government affairs, and public relations. Come out and see what's happening with AANR! There will be a meet-and-greet cocktail party at 6 pm located at the Dayroom. Members are welcome!

Interactive Art Exhibit: Boundaries, Borders, and Walls

The Cypress Cove community, including year-round and seasonal residents and all visitors, are invited to participate in this multi-national, multi-continental art project. This experience will take place on February 5 & 6 from 12 pm - 4 pm at the gazebo next to Cheeks.

Tell the world that we are more alike than different through art or the written word. Meet the founding artists and see some of the over 750 individually-created artworks from 4 continents, 12 countries, 8 states, and 1 province. Nothing is being bought, sold, or charged. If you would like to contribute to the exhibit, your artistic additions will travel the world and be shared with others, both in person and electronically. Visit the exhibit for more information.

Everyone creates boundaries, borders, and walls that isolate us from one another. Help break down these barriers through art and word to understand each other better and create a better world. Make sure you visit their Facebook page for more information.

Full Moon Gathering is Back

Join us at the Full Moon Gathering happening on February 16 at 6 pm. The Full Moon Gathering is held on the shores of Lake Brown. This month's moon is a Full Snow Moon. The moon is expected to rise at 6:23 pm after the sun sets at 6:17 pm. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver, who had visited the Naudowessie (Dakota tribe) and others, wrote that the name used for this period was the Snow Moon, “because more snow commonly falls during this month than any other in the winter.”

Big Nude Boat 2022

The Big Nude Boat 2022 is right around the corner. Cypress Cove Nudist Resort is proud to serve as your pre- and post-cruise assistant. Why not fly into Orlando, stay at The Cove a few nights, let us tend to your luggage, and we'll even do the driving? Contact our office manager, Tiki, for more information or to reserve your seat on the bus. She can be contacted at tiki@cypresscoveresort.com. Don’t miss out, seats are filling up very quickly!

Library Seeks Additional Volunteer Help

Staffing needs at the American Nudist Research Library have changed over the last few weeks as volunteers have stepped forward. They could still use:

  • A treasurer. Experience preferred.
  • Someone with people skills to be our Membership Chairperson.
  • One or more material scanners. (Could be a seasonal resident or visitor)
  • Someone to locate and physically paste in missing pages. (Could be seasonal)
  • Regular librarians to run the library one afternoon a week. (Resident or seasonal)

If you would like to help in a worthy cause, please pop into the library on a Tuesday afternoon to discuss your interests and time available with library president, Paul LeValley (paullevalley@peoplepc.com).

Emma Thompson on going nude at 62: ‘It’s very challenging’

We're throwing out all the baggage that comes with being nude at ANY age or ANY size! It should NOT be challenging.

"Emma Thompson is no longer afraid to bare it all. The 62-year-old British actress talked about the 'difficulty' of shooting — and rehearsing — scenes in the nude 'at the age that I am,' she said, for her new film 'Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.' It was the Academy Award-winning actress’ first time doing full frontal on set. Thompson also said that the 'dreadful demands' of women in her industry remain, in spite of recent women’s movements." Read the full story HERE.

Florida senator fights back over nude images stolen from her

Why do we keep shaming people for being nude? Nude is NATURAL! Let's shame the person that stole them!

"State Sen. Lauren Book often has told the story about how she was sexually abused by her nanny for six years when she was a child. She channeled the pain into a lifetime of helping other abuse survivors. Now after years of working hard to heal herself and restore her life — running a non-profit to help victims, getting married, having children and winning her Senate seat — Book has been victimized again, this time by someone trying to extort her by threatening to reveal nude photos that were stolen from her." Read the full story HERE.

Have You Seen Us Lately?

Because of the colder weather over the weekend, the lake was full of birds enjoying the relative warmth of Brown Lake.

Our Cove families do such a great job of landscaping their lawns.

Even on the coldest days of our Florida winter, you can see beautiful plants and flowers in everyone's yards in full bloom.

Our beautiful sandhill cranes do a great job of keeping the lawn insects under control.

Oak Park is the place to be for some quiet time while enjoying the beauty of nature.

The West Pool is a thing of beauty.

What better way to spend some time on a Florida cold day than supporting One Blood.

Camping has come a long way since Cypress Cove opened its campground 58 years ago.
