We made it through another fantastic Parrothead Weekend and what a weekend it was, it was packed all weekend long with partiers and people who just LOVE this fellow named Jimmy Buffett. The weather also cooperated with us, it only rained once on Saturday late in the afternoon, but because this is Florida that is to be expected. I want to thank all the people that came out and also the people who participated in the various contests like the Jell-O Shot competition, the golf cart decorating contest, body painting contest and everyone that rode in the Parrotheads on Parade. Without all of you the weekend wouldn’t be near as much fun. I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
We also had Family Fest Part 2 last month, and it was a huge success. We tried it out earlier in the year and unfortunately we got rained out for the whole weekend. So we decided to give it another shot near the end of summer and it worked out great. We had families doing chalk art, sandcastle building contests and of course the Family Olympics. It was a lot of fun and we plan on doing it again next year, probably once in the beginning of summer and then again at the end of the summer. So if you didn’t get to take part in it this year, keep an eye on your Cypress Knee for information on next year’s in the coming months. I would also like to thank the Edwards family for running the whole thing. You did a great job and I appreciate you all so much, thank you.
And speaking of volunteers, we are gearing up for the Nude Bike Weekend and the Halloweekend Tool Shed of Terror. We will soon be looking for volunteers to help out with the poker run, block party and of course the Tool Shed of Terror. If you would like to help out drop us an email at activities@cypresscoveresort.com letting us know where you would like to volunteer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Barbara and I just returned from Bare Necessities’ Fire & Ice cruise to Alaska. They had to work hard to fill the ship because many nudists were concerned that an Alaskan cruise would offer few opportunities to be nude. While there were no organized nude excursions, on ship it was a different story. The main pool deck has a full glass cover, so it was quite warm and comfortable. Also, we lucked into a run of excellent weather, so the whole trip was a delight.
For a few days prior to the cruise we visited friends who own Lake Associates Recreation Club, a nudist club near Mount Vernon, Washington. In the foothills of the Cascades, the property is beautiful. The facility is well set up for visiting RV’s, and they have a few overnight rentals.
Although many of the nude cruise passengers are not club nudists, many others are. Cypress Cove had forty or more members on the ship, LARC had two dozen, and we met members of other clubs from all across the country. The experience reminded me once again of the big advantage in vacationing with nudists or operating a nude recreation business. That advantage is that nudists are generally friendly, fun loving and comfortable people to be with.
When you visit a non-nude holiday venue you anticipate the facilities and services you expect to enjoy. When you visit a nudist operation you look forward to the old friends you will see and the new friends you will make. First class facilities and services are nice, but people make the difference. Perhaps the reason our just completed Parrothead Weekend was such a huge success is that Jimmy Buffett’s fans are also friendly, fun loving and comfortable to be with. It is a near-perfect match.
We here at Cypress Cove certainly appreciate all of our members, Parrotheads or not. No matter how hard we work to make our facilities and services first rate, we know that what keeps you coming back is the wonderful group of members we have been able to attract. Thanks to you all.
‘Til next time…

Unfortunately, we did not meet the minimum number of artists needed for this year’s Nude Art Show, so we have reluctantly decided to remove it from the schedule. Our Fantasy Festival activities, already scheduled for that weekend, are still on. We hope to see you there!

Hambi was the beloved pet of members and a frequent sight around the campground. A photo of Hambi has been submitted for the WFTV pet of the week. Vote at:http://www.wftv.com/greatpets/13769478/detail.html.I believe today may be the last day to vote so don’t put it off. Let’s see if we can move Hambi right up to the top!
