Have you had the opportunity to dine in the “New” Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge? Of course it’s not really new, but both rooms have been nicely spiffed up with all new paint, paper, carpet, tile and ceilings. Even the lounge bar was replaced. The refreshed and updated look and feel of the establishment nicely complements the good food and service that we have become used to.
Recently, while I was enjoying a drink and a snack at the new bar, someone said to me, “Who says snowbirds don’t know how to have fun?” A near-capacity crowd in the dining room was eating, drinking, dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. It is true that our winter season activities and entertainment differs somewhat from the summer season, and there are good reasons. One important factor is the weather. From late November into early March it is difficult to plan outdoor activities because of the uncertainty of the weather, particularly temperature. Sure, we have many beautiful, warm days and weeks throughout the winter, but it only takes a hint of a cool front coming in to kill an outdoor event.
The other factor influencing winter season activities is the difference in demographics between the two seasons. The summer crowd is comprised of a higher portion of working people who are ready to blow off stress and party hard on the weekends. During the winter season we have more retirees in residence and in the campground, and they are generally a bit more relaxed. They certainly like to have a good time, but when they do party they tend not to work at it so hard. Even so, the occasional event can get pretty intense. On New Year’s Eve for instance, Cheeks didn’t close until 2:30 a.m.
Yes, there are some differences between the summer and winter seasons, but they are not large. Just check the activities calendar, and whatever the time of year you will find plenty of reasons to visit Cypress Cove.
‘Til next time…

We are a few weeks into 2008 and we are looking forward to a great year here at Cypress Cove. We will be trying some new things and bringing back some old favorites. We are bringing back Dieter Kohlrush for a special one night German show on February 23rd. He was last here at the end of October and had the whole restaurant singing and dancing like they were in the actual Oktoberfest. Lakeside Restaurant will be the place to get some authentic German food and music for a night of fun.
We are also going to be having the Mardi Gras Parade February 5th at 3:00 pm. This is always a hoot so get your beads on and be a part of this yearly tradition. Unfortunately we are not having the Mardi Gras dinner on Tuesday this year, but are going to be rolling it into the Mardi Bra/ Super Bowl Weekend with authentic Cajun food all weekend long. So, come on down and enjoy a great weekend here at the Cove.
If there is something you would like to see happen here at the Cove feel free to stop by the activities office anytime, or just drop us an email at activities@cypresscoveresort.com. We are always looking for new ideas to add to our great lineup of fun activities here at the Cove. We want to continue to bring you the best entertainment and activities of any nudist resort could offer.
