March is here and the weather is beautiful. We’ve got a great weekend with terrific music scheduled at the Lakeside Restaurant. Come sample one of the delicious new dishes that everyone is talking about and dance the night away with all of your friends.
Bernie & Bob, both popular Music Monday singers from the past, are going to provide a special performance on Friday, March 2nd, from 7 - 10 pm. The show is titled “Songs We Love To Sing…”, and it will be full of great songs that you will love to dance to.
Next, jumpstart the Spring season right with our Spring Social on Saturday, March 3rd, starting at 7 pm. Have a great time with all of your friends before they head home for the summer. The Clayton Bright Big Band is returning to Cypress Cove for this special event. This band is fantastic and is something you do not want to miss. It’s a 12 piece authentic Big Band that will be playing all your favorites.
It’s two nights of great classic music that everyone can enjoy.

Well, it’s been one week with the new restaurant manager and what a great week it’s been! Everywhere I go, I’m hearing nothing but compliments and rave reviews. I had two different Salmon dishes this weekend, both of which were fantastic. I also tried the Delmonico Steak with Sweet Corn Relish on Saturday. It was definitely among the best steaks I’ve ever had in our Restaurant. But don’t just take my word for it, here’s some of the feedback I’ve received by email:
“Ted - we had the Maryland Crab Cakes tonight and they were authentic and excellent! It was a great dinner. If this is representive of the other new menu items from Arnie Pinkus, you/we have a winner.”
“Had the crab cakes at Lakeside last night. Now, I am from crab country (MD & VA,) and I must say they were delicious. Lots of crab meat and a real deep crab taste; very little “filler.” Wife had tuna with delicious sauce! Again, excellent! We have already noticed BIG changes in food. Never cared for gator BUT tried the balls and they were exceptional. Sauce to die for! Didn’t taste like any gator I have had in the past which was gummy and tough! Keep up the good work!”
“We would like to post a very positive comment about the restaurant experience that we had this past Saturday night. The food was outstanding! We had the salmon with balsamic vinegar sauce, and the Delmonico steak. The new chef, Arnie, seems like just the right person for the job. The food was at a whole new level, and he seemed personable and interested in the people that were dining there. Doug also did a fine job managing the floor. Both men were engaged in what they were doing and things seemed to flow. It seems like a great incentive to dine there more often and to encourage our neighbors to do so.”
“I believe you’ve found a keeper this time. I was very impressed with him this weekend.”

It all starts on Fat Tuesday, which takes place this year on Feb 20th. We will have a body painting, a parade at 3 pm and a huge Mardi Gras Party at the Lakeside Restaurant.
Dinner starts at 4:30 pm and features a New Orleans style buffet for only $14.95. Offerings include Creole Chicken, Cajun Jambalaya, Sausage Gumbo, Catfish w/Grits, Bourbon Chicken, and a Salad Bar. We will have live entertainment by Bob Clayton and The Dixie Cats from 5 to 9 pm.
Then on Feb 24th we will have our yearly Mardi Bra Party. What is Mardi Bra you ask? Well, Mardi Bra is the most FUN you’ll have wearing a bra. Let me explain. You take a bra, you decorate it like it was a float in a Mardi Gras parade, then you wear it down to Lakeside Restaurant and dance, dance, dance the night away with DJ Xavier. We will have a prize for the best decorated bra.
Other weekend activities include Super Mega Trivia 3000 on Friday night in the Lounge and a fun Petanque Tournament on Saturday morning.
We’ve actually got a nice warm weekend coming up, with a high of 81 on Saturday. Hope to see you around the park!

I’d like to formally announce a change in Restaurant management. We have hired a new Manager, Arnie Pinkus. In recent years, Arnie has managed a couple of high volume restaurants on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. We wish Jim, the former Restaurant Manager, the best in his future endeavors.
Arnie will not be joining us officially until February 26th. However, he will be spending time here whenever possible to prepare for the transition. You may get a chance to meet him soon. He’s coming to us with some exciting new ideas. We are really looking forward to working with him!
In the interim, the Assistant Manager, Brad, has been handling all of the management duties. Brad has been working very long hours and facing some difficult challenges. We appreciate his hard work. Unfortunately, Brad will be moving to New Mexico before the end of the month. He will be missed.

Tickets for the Cove Player’s Spring Show will go on sale on Friday, February 16th, at 7 am in the Lakeside Restaurant. We had planned on starting ticket sales this Friday, but with so many Cove members and residents gone on the Nude Cruise we decided it was best to delay it a week.
The show is scheduled for March 9th & 10th in the Lakeside Restaurant. The show is titled “Thanks for the Memories” and is dedicated to the loving memory of Maggi Corneilsen. Maggi was a long time resident of Cypress Cove and directed the Cove Player’s productions for many years. We will miss her.
The price will be $22 which covers the show, your meal, beverage, tax and gratuity. The ticket price also includes $2 for the Cove Players to help pay for props, etc. Pick your eating time when you purchase your tickets and your table is yours for the evening.
In order for the show to start promptly at 9 pm, the last dinner seating will be at 8 pm. If or when the reservations are filled, individual side chairs will be available for only $5. This money goes directly to the Cove Players.
Cove Player’s productions are usually sold out, so be sure to purchase your tickets early!

Jimmy Buffett is coming to Orlando this Thursday evening, February 8, at the Amway Arena (formerly the T.D. Waterhouse Center). One of the great traditions of Buffett concerts is the huge and rowdy tailgate party in the parking lot beforehand.
Barbara and I will be attending the party, and we will have one of our special Parrothead carts with us, the Jamaica Mistaika airplane. We expect to get there early, perhaps before noon, so we can get a good spot.
If you are attending the concert come to the Amway Arena early and party with us. We shouldn’t be hard to find. We expect to be on the north side, hopefully parking lot #4.
Even if you don’t plan to attend the concert, come on by for the party. It is a lot of fun and well worth the trip.
