The new year is just around the corner. It’s been a great year at Cypress Cove. We have completed all of the major repairs from the hurricanes of 2004. There are just a few minor items left and those are on the schedule. The resort’s in great shape and looking better than ever.
We finished our electric upgrade in the campground this year. All sites now have access to 100 amp electrical service. The electrical outlets at each campsite now include two 50 amp connections, a 30 amp and a 20 amp connection.
The hotel renovations were completed this year as well. All rooms now have new carpet & tile, paint, mattresses, couches & chairs, and hair dryers. Half of the hotel rooms have been converted to Parlor Rooms, a standard hotel room with a plush leather sleeper sofa in place of one of the beds. This provides more room and a comfortable seating area. We also just converted two of the non-smoking Villa Apartments into “Pet Rooms”. These Apartments have all tile floor and are pet permitted. They are still non-smoking.
Though most of our big projects have been completed in 2006, we still have plenty of maintenance and renovation on schedule for 2007. I’ll keep you updated as projects are announced and/or completed.

Cypress Cove’s excellent staff works hard all through the year, and especially holidays, to ensure you have a great time. On Wednesday, December 20th, we will be hosting the annual Employee Christmas Party. It’s their turn to party and have a great time!
Cheeks will be closing at 8 pm, so be sure to eat early! The office should be closing at about 7 pm. We’ve got volunteers manning the gate, bartending the party, etc.
If you would like to donate a door prize to be given away at the party, please leave it for Regis or Ted at the office.
Forgive the staff if they are moving a little slow on Thursday!

Old Business
If you have any photos from the last show that still have not been picked up, they will be in the photo box in the office (activities department).
New Business
-Member Herb gave a report on his art show booth in Oct. Visitors were asked to take a test on identifying sports poses. He had a good turnout at his booth.
-Always be aware when carrying your camera around the cove. Remember the Cove rules when shooting outside of the planned photo shoots. If you need a copy of the rules, contact the front office.
-Also review our club rules when it comes to photographer etiquette. If you have any specific questions, you can always bring them up at the next meeting or email the Secretary with any questions & they will be reviewed at the following meeting.
-Fund raisers: President Dave worked a fund raiser for Halloween @ the Lakeside Restaurant. A total of $220 was raised for the club. The next fundraiser will be for New Years. Dan, Herb & Linda offered to help.
Reminders:
1. Dues are now being collected for the 2007 year
term through December 31st. ($20)
2. December is the election of officers. All members should consider taking on one of the officer positions to give everyone the opportunity to serve the club.

- RC Yacht Club Christmas Light Parade - on Lake Brown at 6:30 pm.
- Christmas Dance - with The Fabulous Baker Act Jam Band at 7 pm in the Lakeside Restaurant.
Monday, December 25th
- Christmas Buffet - from 2-6 pm with live music by Danny and featuring on the menu Roast Beef, Ham & more. Only $14.95. Make reservations NOW!

On Wednesday December 13th at 7 pm in the Clubhouse, the Computer Club will be presenting a special program on a trip to South America: Peru, Chili, Argentina and Brazil. Everyone is invited to see this program. After the showing, we will discuss the program in which this slide show was made. See you there!

We’ve got several new clubs starting up at Cypress Cove. These are member run clubs brought to us by members, for members. If any of these interest you, come by and show your support!
Train club meets on Saturday, December 9th at 11 am on the Terrace.
Meditation Group NEW CLUB!
The First Meeting of the Meditation Group will meet Wednesday, December 13th at 3 pm in the Clubhouse. It’s a wonderful way to center and relax ones self. We’d like to start the practice at the Cove. We will discuss methods of focusing and quieting one’s mind and start with a guided meditation. Then we’ll have a period of silent meditation. Come join us!
Discussion Group NEW CLUB!
The First Meeting of the Discussion Group will meet Thursday, December 14th at 3 pm in the Clubhouse. We choose a topic one week and discuss and write about it (if we wish) for the next session. The topics discussed are NOT political, social, religious, economic, ecological, etc. The topics are, instead, more philosophical; topics such as: Habit; Love; How We Decide; Beauty; Memory; Compassion; etc. Come join us!
