Local radio station does impromptu bit at Cypress Cove

November 1st, 2006

Russ Rollins, host of Monsters of the Morning on Real Radio 104.1, issued a challenge on the air to a couple of his morning crew. Ride nude on a peddal boat across the lake at Cypress Cove Nudist Resort 10 times and win $500. The challenge was issued to Tiffany & Tuttle and they accepted.

Dean happened to be listening at the time. He came into the office yesterday morning and asked, “Are you expecting Real Radio out here tomorrow?” The answer was no, no one knew anything about it. So we called 104.1 and they confirmed it. Russ has visited Cypress Cove in the past as a guest. We don’t know what prompted the challenge, but we were happy to play along.

They arrived this morning. It just happened to be terrible weather, very unusual this time of year. I thought for sure they would cancel the bit, but they were brave and went for it. Tiffany and Tuttle disrobed and peddaled 10 cold, soggy laps across the lake.

Monsters of the Morning is a comedy show and many of the expected jokes were made. However, we are an occassional advertiser on their station and, as I said, Russ has been here before, so they were mostly respectful. We certainly got a lot of air time as the bit seemed to take up most of this morning’s show. Overall, we came away pleased.

    Long time listener, etc.

I passed the 104.1 radio van apparently broken down on Poinciana Boulevard as I was driving to work. A few minutes later Russ explained on air what it was about so I phoned Maggie and told her she might like to go through to the Cove to watch the fun. Her response was predictable, “It’s raining, ya gotta be joking!”

And a word from your spelling nazi – pedal has one “d” and “Tuddle” has two.

Since this bit was broadcast a number of fans of the show have come out as both irregular and regular visitors to the Cove and others have expressed an interest in nudism. And Barbara’s note on the WTKS website has also got some attention. To capitalise on this perhaps the Cove management could get together with Clear Channel and stage a “Monster Day”? There’s a potential to increase younger membership at best and, at worst, to promote an understanding of our philosophy among a wider audience?

All those in favor please raise your hand…
