Tennis shelter gets a new deck

The tennis shelter now has a nice new wooden deck. Okay, it’s new to the shelter but not really new. One of our residents located a free deck made of pressure treated lumber which he thought would fit quite nicely. So a crew of tennis players picked it up and installed it this weekend. It looks good and everyone seems to like it!

The Learning Channel films at Cypress Cove

On Sunday, October 1st, a crew from The Learning Channel came to Cypress Cove to film a segment for a new pilot series, Extreme Parenting. The segment focused on Erich Schuttauf, the AANR Executive Director, and his family.  It was basically “a day in the life” of a nudist family.  They began filming at their home, then at their church, and followed them to Cypress Cove.  Erich felt that the TLC crew was very professional and is confident that Cypress Cove will come off well in the footage.

The show, if picked up, is expected to appear in early Spring.  I’ll be sure to update you when I know more.

Advice Columnists OK Visits to Nude Beaches & Resorts

In a recent Dear Abby column, “Wondering Wife” writes for advice on whether she should visit a nude beach or resort on her husband’s suggestion, citing religious concerns. The column has long been a respected source of common sense, practical advice for millions. Abby advises Wondering Wife to consider her husband’s suggestion, and states, “There is nothing sinful about going to a nude beach with one’s husband.” She writes that the woman will likely encounter families and people of all ages who just want to enjoy themselves, not leer at anyone else.

In an interesting side note, the same day, another syndicated advice column, “Annie’s Mailbox,” ran a letter by “Wondering Husband” who had been talking to his wife about his interest in visiting a nude beach or resort. While Husband’s wife was reluctant, Annie suggested that perhaps his wife was not as comfortable with her body as he was and maybe they should look for a nudist resort that allows visitors to “bring spouses who opt to remain clothed” as a compromise.
