It’s time to celebrate classic country music. We started this weekend last year and it was a huge success, so we are bringing it back. If you like classic country music then this weekend is the one for you. It all starts off with a Classic Country Karaoke Party with Regis. You can come down and sing all the country or any other kind of music you want with all your friends.
Saturday we will have a new band playing at the Cove. They are called The Rodeo Rhythm Kings and I’m sure you will love them. They will be playing all your classic country favorites. Sunday by the pool will be filled with fun as DJ Xavier will be playing all your classic country favorites for you to enjoy by the pool.
Make plans now if you’re an old cowhand from the Rio Grand, or just enjoy old time country!

The Cove’s gonna make you an offer you can’t refuse with the a great weekend of fun.
Friday night kicks off with one of our summer’s biggest nights, Vegas Night 2. We are bringing it to the winter for the snowbirds to enjoy. You get $20,000 in play money and you get to play some classic Vegas games like Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and The Money Wheel. You then use your winnings to trade in for tickets for prize drawings.
The following night is Gangster Night at 7 pm in the Lakeside Restaurant. Get your best gangster duds on (or maybe just a Tommy gun, it is a nudist resort after all…) to try and win our gangster costume contest at 9 pm. There is guaranteed fun for all. We will have DJ Shawn on hand to put you in the right frame of mind, playing all your favorite tunes from yesterday and today.
There will be no prohibition at our speakeasy, so make plans now to attend what is sure to be a fun new weekend. See you there!

Contra Dancing is a form of North American folk dance in which the dancers form two sets of parallel lines which run the length of the hall. Each dance consists of a sequence of moves that ends with couples having progressed one position up or down the set. As the sequence is repeated, a couple will eventually dance with every other couple in the set.
Contra Dancing was all the rage in 1800. Many of the basic moves in Contra Dancing are similar to those in square dancing (swings, promenades, dos-a-dos, allemandes). A square dance set comprises only four couples whereas the number of couples in a Contra Dance set is limited only by the length of the hall. To join a set, all you need is a partner. If you have danced squares, you will enjoy Contras immediately.
In Contra Dancing, your feet are never asked to do more than walk to the music. Each dance is taught by the caller before it is danced. The caller continues to prompt the dancers as needed. Because the pattern of moves of each Contra Dance is repeated often, Contra Dances are easy to learn. Both beginning and experienced dancers happily share the same set.
Contra Dances have a relaxed, family-like atmosphere where the emphasis is on dancing. Contra Dancing is excellent exercise that you can take at your own pace. Above all, Contra Dancers form a community of friendly, active people and they welcome new dancers, be they youngsters or seniors. Most dancers range from 25 to 70 years old.
What if I don’t have a partner? No problem. Many people come to a Contra Dance alone. Dancers are encouraged to dance with many different partners throughout the evening. Come check it out Oct. 15th at 1:00pm in the Clubhouse. Hope to see you at a dance!

Music Monday takes place EACH AND EVERY Monday of the month at 7 pm in the Lakeside Restaurant.
Come down and enjoy the musical styling of Babe Plante on the first Monday of each month. A new singer to the Cove, Sheila will be taking the second Monday. The Angel and Alan Show and a few other surprise guests will take place on the third Monday of the month. The fourth Monday will be the country stylings of Ron Wilson. The fifth Monday of October will be our Oktoberfest featuring the live German music of Dieter Kohlrush, starting at the special time of 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm. The bottom line is that there will be great music and dancing every Monday of the month.
But it’s not only the music to come for, it’s also the great food. By the time you read this, we will have a new dinner menu!
These nights are quite popular, so reservations are a must.
Come dance, eat, and socialize with all your friends. Only at Cypress Cove.

Now that fall is fast approaching and our snowbirds are starting to plan their annual trip south, thoughts of our annual tennis tournament are formulating.
Cypress Cove’s Annual Charity Tennis Tournament will be held on January 10-14, 2007. Seniors will play January 10th and 11th with Men and Ladies playing on the 10th and Mixed play on the 11th. Age groups include 50-65, 65-75, and over 75 with A, B and C levels of play.
The Open Division is held January 13th – 14th with Men and Ladies playing on the 13th and Mixed on the 14th. A, B, and C levels of play are contested.
A single entry fee of $15 covers entries in as many as four events per individual (Men or Ladies and Mixed in both Senior and Open Divisions). All participants receive T-shirts and qualify for prize money totaling $1,000 in Cove Bucks for first and second places.
Over the past three years, the Tennis Tournament Committee has donated approximately $2,500 per year to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Osceola County, raised through the generosity of more than 20 major sponsors, as well as many individual donors of raffle items.
During the event, we hold two major social activities; a welcoming cocktail party hosted by Cypress Cove and a banquet held in the Cove’s Lakeside Restaurant, as well as award ceremonies at the completion of each event.
A commemorative CD of photos of all participants and most spectators is available for purchase as well, with the proceeds again benefiting the Children’s charity.
The Tournament Committee invites all interested players to come join us in this wonderful fun charity event. Special packages including tournament fees and rooms are available. Registration forms and a printable flyer for the tournament are now available at the Cypress Cove website tennis link.
Sponsorships are still available at either the Gold, Silver or Bronze levels as well as individual donations and raffle items. Please contact a member of the Tennis Committee at Cypress_Cove_Tennis_Committee@yahoo.com.
